nature of central sulawesi - six degrees eco lodge and beach hostel

Central Sulawesi is a haven for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. From rugged mountains to pristine waters, the region offers countless opportunities to connect with the natural world while embracing the thrill of exploration. At Six Degrees Off Grid, we’re here to help you discover it all.

Trekking Adventures

While our eco-lodge doesn’t offer guided treks starting directly from the property, you’re welcome to explore the forests and beaches that surround us. Or, let us arrange transportation to nearby mountains, remote villages, or cascading waterfalls, where trails wind through lush landscapes and reveal stunning vistas. Whether you’re hiking to a hidden waterfall or exploring traditional communities nestled in the highlands, the journey promises to be as rewarding as the destination.

Water-Based Activities

Our location is next to a coral-fringed seagrass meadow, providing an ideal setting for marine exploration. Grab a mask and snorkel to uncover the vibrant underwater world just steps from your accommodation. For those looking to dive deeper, jump on a paddleboard to get to nearby reefs and freedive spots, or hire a boat to Towale Atol – an unforgettable experience with a thriving marine ecosystem.

Wildlife at Six Degrees Off Grid

One of the most captivating aspects of staying at Six Degrees Off Grid is the proximity to incredible wildlife, both on land and in the sea:

  • In the Sea: Just off our shores, you might encounter a diverse range of marine life, including dugongs, turtles, reef sharks, and a kaleidoscope of tropical fish. Very rare sightings include dolphins, whale sharks, and even majestic manta rays.
  • In the Trees: Our property is home to a variety of fascinating creatures. The elusive bear cuscus, one of Sulawesi’s marsupials, may be spotted high in the trees, while endemic kingfishers and vibrant yellow-billed malkohas brighten the canopy. Sea eagles occasionally fish over the reef, and endemic owls provide a tranquil chorus of hoots as night falls.
  • On Land: Fireflies light up most nights – watch them from the hammock on your balcony. During a dusk stroll, with a bit of luck, you might catch a glimpse of the babirusa, an endemic wild pig with striking long tusks that adds a touch of the extraordinary to your visit.

Tailored Adventures

Whether you’re drawn to the serenity of snorkeling in crystal-clear waters or the excitement of spotting rare wildlife, we can help tailor your experience. At Six Degrees Off Grid, we aim to create a seamless connection between you and the natural wonders of Sulawesi, ensuring every moment of your adventure is unforgettable.
